New Living Space

After 14 years I decided to rearrange the living room furniture to create a more cozy seating space. I really like how it is. I couldn't fit my teal end tables next to the loveseat though so I put them together to form 1 table instead. It still feels spacious and I got a sofa table and a small hutch to go in the space behind the couch. I'll get pictures of those later.

More Stitching

I made this primitive stitch from a pattern on the internet.
I'm going to switch out this stitch with seasonal ones.

New Stitching

I finished a new cross stitch for the kitchen yesterday. It is supposed to be square, but I couldn't find a frame that would work and fit above the kitchen cabinets (where I put it), so I adjusted the pattern a little to fit this frame.

Curtain

I got a star button valance for the Winter in the downstairs bathroom. I think it goes nicely with the new walls and border.

Bath Redo

My Aunt redid her sitting room and I became obsessed with finding a place in my house for the wallpaper she used. My downstairs bathroom was a really nice blue that I loved (for the last 14 years!), but I decided it was time for a new look. I painted the tops of the walls a yellowy off white and my Mom and I did the paper and border on the bottom. It took forever, but it is worth it. It makes the upstairs bathroom look plain and boring now.

More New Things

I found this chair like the one my Mom has yesterday. She has a space at the end of her hallway to put it, but it's so skinny, I put mine in the middle of the hallway and it's not in the way so far. I stuck a ghost on it for now. (The woodwork is not red like it looks in the picture, by the way)
I liked this star so much I had to get it. I put it in the hallway across from the new chair for now. I had to do a little rearranging, but it all worked out.

New Lighting

I got this hanging light for the computer room. I took out the two large bookcases and I added a rug on the floor. It gave me another wall to hang stuff on :-)
I finally replaced the last builder's grade globe light with this fun wire one.

New Fall Crafts

I created some new crafts for the season. I saw something similar to this at the store and I found the crow for sale and the bag and I had everything else to make it at home.
I made this latch hook rug I got on clearance at the beginning of the year.
We made fall bushel baskets this year. I think it came out cute.

New Fall Decor

I took out my Fall decorations the other day and I've done a pretty good job of getting it down to a good amount. I did decide to get a few new things to replace some older decorations. I got this hanging scarecrow from someone on ebay.
I just got this scarecrow gourd. I think he's cute and he lights up.
This fits nicely in the corner of the mud room since the coat rack broke in half.
I got this handmade scarecrow from someone on ebay. He was a little plain so I jazzed him up with a band on his hat with berries tucked in, matching patches on his pants, scarves on the crows and little bells with string on his shoes.

Stitch

I made this little tree stitch to go with the little house one from earlier. I covered the mat with the red fabric to match.

Garage Makeover

I got some accessories to update my garage door. I think it looks fancy.
The faux windows make a big difference.

New Front Door

I wanted a pop of color for the front of the house and something different. I love wooden outside doors on other houses so we made one for ourselves. I love how it came out. I got the new cow hanger and greenery for above the door to spruce it up. I also got supplies to make a new Fall wreath for it. Can't wait...

Decorations

I have liked this mirror for a while and I finally found a place for it. I cut down the large sofa pictures I used to put there and reframed them so I can use them in other places.
I found this sheep frame in an extra decor bin I have and I thought a little sheep cross stitch would look cute in it so I whipped one up.

Garage Door Decor

I decided to get some carriage door accessories for the garage doors. I'm waiting on some more stuff for my garage so here's the big garage first.

Hill-Scaping

I was tired of nothing growing on the hill out back. A couple years ago we lugged new dirt and seeded and even got mats to hold the seeds on the hill. Grass came up for a season and then here we are with a desert again. I saw a bush garden in a magazine and they had a path through the woods and I thought that would be nice out back. We created this bush garden and paths and we found a cute arbor at Lowes (on clearance already!).
Unfortunately, when we were finally done with the big part of the hill, the part that had already been done for years looked awful. I weeded it and trimmed and got a few new plants for the area. There are still a couple left to be put in, but I had to get the proper place for sun/shade first. When we finished sprucing that up, the area above it looked terrible. We got more bushes and did a strip above it.
That's it for this year, aside for a few more things in the old rock area and some spreading Juniper bushes for the very steep end at the far right of the picture. Please notice that every rock, huge in the middle and small outlining everything (except for the rock area that was already done), was dug out of each hole that we had to put a plant in by Hubby. There were even extra that I thew into the woods to make it look neater. He's the best rock hunter!

New Decor and A Stitch

I recently got this country trio.
I got the mason jars and holders too. They had tea light candles inside, but I don't use them since they don't last very long on the batteries. I put rag balls inside instead.
I loved this simple picture so I got it on sale for the Summer.
This is my latest cross stitch. I wrapped the mat with the red fabric. I will be making a little tree one soon and I will wrap the mat to match. I hope I can find places to put them at Christmas.

New Lights

I got these cute lights for outside. They were listed under nautical style and it goes well with the gray siding. It reminds me of Cape Cod.

Some Recent Projects

My first attempt at knitting was a lap blanket for the computer chair. I had my Mom crochet a scalloped border on it because that was a little too advanced for me.
I saw a wreath like this in a magazine and I made my own with a clearance wreath I bought.

Spring Cleaning

I just got this cute bunny gourd.
I loosely followed the New Year's cleaning challenge from organized home. I couldn't use their order for rooms because it was still Winter here and I couldn't do the outside or the windows (until last week). I'm doing the last room today. All I have left is to clean the porch and clean up the yard.

New Shelf

I saw the idea for a shelf over a door in a magazine and I liked it, but I wasn't sure where to put it. I decided over the living room doorway in the hall would be good since it doesn't have a frame or door on it and if I stained the shelf to match the other woodwork it would balance out the hallway. We made this shelf from scrap wood from the mud room project. Hubby even cut stars out of the ends for me. It probably should have been a little more narrow, but that's the size the wood was and I didn't want to add more cutting to the project.

Some New Things

It was finally warm enough to wash windows last week so I did and I noticed the bathroom curtain was a little faded and in need of something new. I had blue curtains in the living room and I moved the valance to the bathroom and I ordered these flower valances for the living room for the Summer.
I got a new spare toilet paper caddy for the upstairs bath.
I used to have this quilt pinned to the wall by itself, but I thought a quilt shelf would make it look nicer so I got one.

Christmas Stitch

I whipped up this Christmas cross stitch recently. I like how it came out. It was pretty quick to make too.

One Of My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things about the mud room redo is this tiny shelf we built coming down the stairs. It's just trim to finish off the edge of the ceiling and it was easy to do, but I love it.

Mud Room Redo

I was down in the mud room painting the grout because it was white and always looked filthy no matter how much I scrubbed it. I started to think maybe I should redo the room.
Hubby suggested we redo the ceiling because it was just cheap paneling and trim before. I thought it would look nice with pine boards. I was right.
I found this outdoor light before we decided to make the ceiling with pine boards, but it matches the rustic feel perfectly.
I'll be getting a new valance to go on the window this weekend.

Mud Room Part 2

Here are the new red walls and the decorations. Most of the stuff was already in there, but the welcome sheep is new.
